Australia Clean Up Day 2011

Join us for 2011 Clean Up Australia Day event on Sunday, 6 March 2011.

In 1989 an 'average Australian bloke' had a simple idea to make a difference in his own backyard - Clean Up Sydney Harbour. The event received an enormous public response with more than 40,000 Sydneysiders donating their time and energy to clean up the harbour.

This simple idea has now become the nation's largest community-based environmental event. Now in its 20th year, the event attracts hundreds of thousands of volunteers from the community, schools and businesses to help clean up, fix up and conserve their environment. 

The 2010 Clean Up Australia Day event was held on Sunday 7 March. Over 588,000 volunteers across Australia picked up 15,560 tonnes of rubbish at 7,073 Clean Up Sites. Find out how you can get involved in Clean Up Australia Day 2011.
